Course Requirements Based on Cessna 152 Aircraft
Recreational Pilot Permit
A Recreational Pilot Permit allows a pilot to fly aircraft with up to four seats but the pilot is restricted to having only one passenger. Also the pilot is not able to add a night or instrument rating to this permit.

A private pilot license allows a pilot to fly any single-engine, non-high performance aircraft registered in Canada. A night rating, multi-engine rating or an instrument rating can be added to a private license.
The prerequisites for this course are:
• Must be at least 17 years old to complete the program but can be 14 to solo
• Must hold a Transport Canada Category 1,3 medical certificate
The course requirements are:

Night Rating
A night rating allows a pilot to operate an aircraft at night. This course can be credited towards the commercial pilots license if the pilot enrollees in that course
The prerequisites for this course are:
• The pilot must hold a valid Private Pilots License
• The pilot must hold a valid category 1,3 medical certificate
The course requirements are:
• 15 hours of dual instruction including:
• 10 hours of instrument training, 5 of which can be completed in our simulator
• 5 hours dual night instruction of which 3 hours must be cross country
• 5 hours of solo practice
VFR Over the Top Rating
A VFR Over the Top Rating allows a pilot with a private license to fly on top of cloud, while within certain weather restrictions. This rating is included with a commercial pilots license.
The prerequisites for this course are:
• The pilot must hold a valid Private Pilots License
• The pilot must hold a valid category 1,3 medical certificate
The course requirements are:
• 10 hours of dual instruction including:
• 5 hours of simulator training
Commercial Pilot License
A Commercial Pilot License allows a pilot to fly for profit in Canada. With this license the pilot can work as a charter pilot, but can only act as copilot in a two crew aircraft. The license includes a night rating and a VFR over the top rating
The prerequisites for this course are:
• The pilot must hold a valid Private Pilot License
• The pilot must hold a valid category 1 medical certificate

In order for Transport Canada to issue the license the pilot must also build a grand total of 200 hours including 100 hours pilot in command and 20 hours of total cross country time.
Multi Engine Rating
A multi engine rating allows a pilot with either a private or a commercial license to fly aircraft with multiple engines.
The prerequisites for this course are:
• The pilot must have a valid Private Pilot License
• The pilot must have a valid category 1,3 medical certificate
The course requirements are:
• Obtain the skill level necessary to pass a Transport Canada multi engine flight test
We usually require about 13 hours of dual training in the Piper Seneca PA-34 to achieve the skill level required to pass the flight test but flight time can vary depending on the student.
Single Engine Instrument Rating
A Single Engine Instrument Rating allows a Private Pilot or a Commercial Pilot to fly single engine aircraft under instrument meteorological conditions (IMC) or in cloud.
Multi Engine Instrument Rating
A Multi Engine Instrument Rating allows a Private Pilot or a Commercial Pilot to fly multi engine aircraft under instrument meteorological conditions (IMC) or in cloud.
